Eggs
- A great energy source—they have iron, zinc, and a lot of protein. Protein not only helps build muscles and keep you full, & it supplies sustained energy as well.
- The 6 grams of protein in an egg helps maintain level blood sugar and includes the amino acid leucine, which is an important part of protein synthesis (a factor in muscle growth and recovery).
- Meanwhile, B vitamins assist with energy production in the body.
Exercise
Joint Friendly Exercises:
- Try low impact exercises like walking, cycling, rowing, swimming & water exercises.
- These are best for those with joint pain.
- Do some easy stretches every day.
- Joint movements should cover fingers, wrist, shoulder, spine, hips, knees & ankles.
- Try yoga to gently stretch your muscles.
- Avoid high impact exercises (running) & weight & gym exercises.
Stress Management
Hydration for the Brain:
- Water – Keeping yourself well hydrated is critical for a healthy brain.
- Adequate consumption of water enables all the organs to function well and also improves mental clarity and concentration.
- De-hydration is one of the most common causes of headaches and poor memory as it causes cells in the brain to shrink.
Avoid Addictions
Benefits of moderate alcohol consumption:
- For alcohol in any form (beer, wine, spirits, etc) to be healthy, it has to be taken in moderation (one drink a day for women & not more than 2 a day for men).
- Beer & wine have natural antioxidants called phenols which lowers hypertension, protects the heart & arteries.
- A shot of vodka, kills bad breath & oral bacteria.
- Ethanol in alcohol helps neurons in the brain & prevents Alzheimer’s & Dementia. Too much has the opposite effect.
- Antioxidants in wine, such as resveratrol & phytochemical increase life span & longevity.
- Alcohol increases HDL, the good cholesterol & reduces LDL, the bad cholesterol.
- Whisky or brandy with warm water soothes a sore throat.
- Alcohol is the great social equaliser. It increases confidence.
- Moderate drinking in the cold season reduced the risk of getting the common cold.

- Green tea helps to keep blood sugar levels stable in people who suffer from diabetes.
- The compounds polyphenols and polysaccharides present in green tea can be useful for both types of diabetes.
- Green tea can stimulate insulin production in the pancreas, it also regulate blood sugar levels and absorb glucose in those with Type 1 diabetes.
